Troop 919 POPCORN UPDATE
| FINAL WEEKEND TO SELL POPCORN |
Be sure to take advantage of this weekend’s final opportunity in 2011 to sell popcorn for our Troop!
Here’s a true story for you….a couple years back, a Scout near our Troop tallied $1,000 in sales on the final day to sell popcorn that year. Is that you? Can you top that?
Our Troop has many great incentives for top popcorn sellers….including getting to smash your Scoutmaster in face with a pie!!!! Don’t miss this opportunity.
Mr. Essex will be at the Scout Hut on Monday (Oct. 31) between 6:00 and 7:00 PM to collect your popcorn orders. If you need an additional order sheet between now and then, give him a call at (336) 922-2128 or download one from the Old Hickory Council popcorn page. One final plea…..the annual popcorn sale is our only Troop fund raiser each year. We depend on your popcorn sales to fund YOUR Troop activities, fund YOUR Scout accounts, provide summer camp scholarships, purchase Troop gear like tents and tarps and stoves and cook gear and to turn on the lights and heat our Scout Hut.

Did You Sell Popcorn This Past Weekend?
It was a beautiful weekend and hopefully many of our Troop 919 Scouts took advantage of the weekend to get in some early popcorn sales. Bring some of your success stories to share with the Troop at Tuesday’s meeting.
And don’t forget to set up your online account at Trail’s End. Those far away sales can really add up fast and help you win some prizes.
..and most importantly, our Troop depends on the popcorn sales each year to fund our Scouting program!
Vienna Civic Club Fair Booth – Our night for the Troop 919 adults to help the Vienna Civic Club at the Fair is Wednesday, Oct. 5. If you can help this year, please attend Tuesday’s meeting and get the particulars from Tim Lasley. Plus, we need to know who is coming to help!
The Civic Club could also use our help at some other times during the week. In particular they need some help in the mornings and during lunch. If you can volunteer during the day, give Tim or Karen Swart a call. They would really appreciate your help…if only for a couple hours. They could also use some help on the weekend.
District Camporee – Our next camping trip is the Piedmont District’s "Honoring America's Military Veterans" on Oct 21-23, 2011. We will have sign-up for this trip at Tuesday’s Scout Meeting.
There will be lots of inter-patrol competition at the Camporee and we will spend the next couple Scout meetings sharpening our skills for the Camporee competitions.
The final time to sign up for the Camporee is at our Troop meeting on Oct. 11.
Also, there is an activity consent form that requires your parent’s consent and signature that must be turned in by Oct. 11.
Eagle Scout Court of Honor – Danner W. will be awarded his Eagle Scout rank at a Court of Honor on Sunday, October 9 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Silas Creek Parkway. Refreshments will be served following the Court of Honor.
Scout Hut Workday – There is a workday planned at our Scout Hut on October 15. We will have several Scout and Adult ready projects ready for this day and encourage everyone’s participation.
