Popcorn sells
Troop 919 scouts and parents
I would first like to say Thank you for your current and past support selling popcorn. We are currently faced with the problem of not knowing how much popcorn each Scout has sold to date due to the lack of Popcorn sheets brought to our last couple of meetings. Please have your son E-mail Mr. Essex
jacob.essex@wellsfargo.com with that information as soon as possible. Obviously this is an alarming trend for us since we normally get quite a bit of feedback at this point in the Popcorn campaign.
Popcorn is vitally important to our troop because it provides funding for the up- keep of our Scout hut (i.e. lights, water and heat). We also use this money for new and replacement gear of which our troop has always had good quality tents, stoves and other patrol camping gear.
The proceeds of selling popcorn also provides for troop events. Our troop almost always pays for things like camp site reservations, June fun day, cooking supplies for camping trips (Propane, dish soap, paper towels etc…) and supplies for summer camp and Family night. You and your son will be directly impacted by how well our popcorn sale turns out. We as a troop have to pay for the things that allow us to keep our meeting place doors open. We would regret having to ask parents to pay for events and activities that in the past have been covered by popcorn sells.
Popcorn money is also used to purchase advancement items needed at our Court of Honors to recognize our Scouts for their achievements throughout each quarter. This is an integral part of the Scouting experience for our young men as they work and earn their ranks.
This money also befits the Scouts by allowing them to have a Scout account that can provide for summer camp fees and fees associated with high adventure trips such as Caving or whitewater rafting. This again reduces the burden on each family’s pocket book.
As a Proud member of Troop 919 I personally ask each of you to take what time is left to sell popcorn and DO YOUR BEST! To meet or exceed the $600 per scout goal set for the popcorn sell.
Sincerely
Mike Warner
