Troop 919 Notes 5-23-10

Court of Honor – Our May Court of Honor will be held Tuesday (May 25) at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Brookstown Methodist Church.

There will be a large number of Scouts honored with rank advancements and merit badges at Tuesday’s Court of Honor, so be sure to invite your family to attend and celebrate with you. Many of our Raven Scouts will be receiving their Scout rank badge at the Court of Honor.

Don’t forget to bring those all important snacks and drinks for the fellowship time following the Court of Honor!

For our newest Scout families, a Court of Honor is similar to a pack meeting. Our Troop typically holds a Court of Honor once a quarter.

Spelunking Trip – Our next camping trip is a Spelunking camping trip. Sign-up for this trip will be at Tuesday’s Court of Honor and menu planning will be at the Troop meeting on June 1.

The plans are to camp in the Boone area on Friday, enjoy the spelunking on Saturday and return Saturday evening so everyone can have Sunday to prepare for exams and the final days of school.

Camp Balances – There are 12 Scouts who have a summer camp balance remaining. The final payment was due on May 11. Please make arrangements to make any outstanding payments at Tuesday’s Court of Honor so we can make our payment to Camp Raven Knob on time. Troops which make their camp payments on time are given first choice in merit badge sessions, so it’s very important that we make our camp payment on time.

Medical Forms – Here it comes….the weekly medical form whine.

Currently there are 39 Scouts and 13 leaders whose Annual Health and Medical record is not current.

Eagle Scout Court of Honor – Our Troop has two upcoming Eagle Scout Court of Honors planned.

June 6 – Brady A. will receive his Eagle Scout rank in a ceremony in the Fellowship Hall at Brookstown Methodist Church at 2 p.m.

June 12 – Andrew C. and Tyler F. will receive their Eagle Scout rank in a ceremony at 2 p.m. at Olivet Moravian Church.

Please support these Scouts as they are recognized with Scouting’s highest rank.

Swim Checks – Summer camp swim checks will be held on June 8. We will confirm the location of the swim checks at next week’s meeting. We will NOT be meeting at the Scout Hut on June 8.

Scouts attending summer camp should complete their swim check before camp to allow for additional “camp set up time” when we arrive at camp on Sunday afternoon.
