Scout Sunday – Thanks to all of the Scout families who made it a point to attend Scout Sunday worship services with our Troop at our sponsoring partners the past two weeks.
Northern Tier Crew – The following Scouts and Scouters will make up our Northern Tier crew this summer: Austin D., Noah B., Lyle G., Raymond F. Michael B., Stan Gordon, Mike Warner, Mac McCormick.
There will be an important crew meeting at our Scout Hut on Monday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. and parents are requested to attend this organizational meeting.
Wilderness Survival Campout – Our next camping trip is our Wilderness Survival camping trip at Raven Knob, March 18-20. Signups for this trip will be at Tuesday’s Troop meeting.
Our program for the next weeks will focus on building wildersness shelters, wilderness cooking and wilderness survival.

Reminders for the weekend
Eagle Project – Workday for Austin D.’s Eagle project is Saturday.
· Location: Odd Fellows Cemetery (across the street from the East Gate of the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds)
· When: Saturday, February 26, 2011. 11:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
· Project: Clearing and Documenting Graves
· Wear work clothes and bring gloves; bring rakes, loppers, leaf blowers, wheelbarrows, or weed eaters if you have them
· Lunch will be provided
Vienna Civic Club – The Vienna Civic Club’s annual “fair workers” thank you dinner is Saturday (feb. 26) at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Olivet Moravian Church. All Troop 919 adults who helped in the civic club’s food concession booth at the fair are invited. Contact Tim Lasley for more information.
Scout Sunday – Our Troop will be attending Scout Sunday at Olivet Moravian Church on Sunday (Feb. 26). Service begins at 11:00 a.m.
Scout families are asked to arrive by 10:45 a.m. If you are participating in the service, please arrive by 10:30 a.m.

Scout Sunday Reminder - A reminder that we will be attending Scout Sunday at Brookstown Methodist Church on Sunday. Church service starts at 11:00 a.m. and we are asking our Scout families to arrive by 10:45 a.m. If you are taking part in the service, please plan to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.

Scouting For Food – Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday to help with our Scouting for Food pickup. We were able to donate 1095 pounds to the Second Harvest Food bank.
Thanks to Chuck Harmon for arranging to have the Second Harvest Food Bank truck at the Scout Hut on Saturday to pick up our collection.
Re-Chartering and Summer Camp – This does not come as new news….your BSA re-chartering fee is now due. The re-chartering deadline is this Tuesday (February 15)! The re-chartering fee is $15 and a Boys Life subscription is an additional $12. If you haven’t already done so, please plan to pay your re-chartering fee at Tuesday’s Troop meeting.
There are 18 Scouts and 23 adults who have not yet paid their re-chartering.
Your Raven Knob summer camp deposit of $100 is also due.
Eagle Scout Court of Honor – Eagle Scout candidate Jeffrey S. will be awarded his Eagle Scout rank in a ceremony at Brookstown Methodist Church following Scout Sunday.
Jeffrey and his family are inviting us to a hamburger and hot dog lunch following church at 12:45 p.m. in the Brookstown Fellowship hall. The Eagle Scout Court of Honor will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Eagle Project – Austin D. is scheduling a second workday for his Eagle Scout project on Saturday, Feb. 26. Austin will have details at Tuesday’s Troop meeting.
Charity Hockey Game - For the last several years Mr. Gordon has arranged a sponsor for any Troop 919 Scout and his family who would like to attend the DOCS vs COPS charity hockey game at the Joel Coliseum. The game will be played on March 5 and his friend is offering to sponsor us again this year.
We need to give Mr. Gordon a ticket count on Tuedsay. If you and your family would like to attend this event, tell Mr. Gordon how many tickets you would like. Only one simple request...if you ask for tickets, please plan to use them. His friend pays for these tickets and is willing to sponsor anyone from Troop 919 who would like to attend this fun evening.
Conclave Deadline – The registration deadline for Conclave has been extended to March Workday (March 12). The deadline for pre-ordering Conclave Host Lodge memorabilia has also been extended to March 12.

Scouting For Food - Thanks for the amazing turnout for Saturday’s Scouting For Food bag delivery! We had 37 Scouts, Cubs, Leaders and parents participating and we delivered 950 bags!
Now comes the hard part....we must return to these same neighborhoods this Saturday to collect those bags filled with canned goods and other non-perishable foods. We will once again meet at the Scout Hut at 10 a.m. We will be donating our collection to the Second Harvest Food Bank and appreciate Chuck Harmon arranging to transport our collection to the food bank.
WinterPlace Ski Trip - We have 21 skiers and snowboarders lined up for Sunday’s trip to WinterPlace. We will announce Sunday’s departure time at Tuesday’s Troop meeting. It’s going to be an early morning departure....as usual!
It’s looks we might be a little short on leaders and transportation for the trip. If can help with the leadership and driving, please come to Tuesday’s Troop meeting. You don’t have to ski to go on this trip. You can have a lot of fun hanging out in the ski lodge!

BSA Medical Form – Each Scout and leader is required to have an annual physical exam. The annual medical form can also be downloaded from the national BSA site http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34605_Letter.pdf. Most of our Troop’s medical forms have expired or will expire soon, so please plan accordingly and get this task taken care of soon.

Northern Tier Update - This summer’s NorthernTier Crew is almost complete and has just 1 opening remaining. Don’t miss the opportunity to see some of this country’s most pristine waterways as Troop 919 paddles it way through the Northern Boundry waters.
Philmont 2012 - If you are planning to head to Philmont with Troop 919 in 2012 it’s time to make that initial deposit payment. Mr. Jacobius is organizing the trip and has worked out an easy payment plan.

Scouting Museum Exhibit - The Grand Opening for the “Faces of Scouting” was Sunday at the International Civil Rights Museum in Greensboro http://www.sitinmovement.org/home.asp and John Fitzpatrick from the BSA National Membership Team in Irwin, Texas led the activities. There were 54 youth in attendance from our district, including 14 Boy Scouts who earned the American Cultures merit badge.
Groups of Scouts can get a discount entry price of $5.00 and can earn the merit badge by going through the tour with one of the guides. The museum is located on S Elm Street in Greensboro.
The “African-Americans in Scouting” display will remain open throughout the month of February after which it will change to “Women in Scouting” for the month of March. Mark your calendars now for Sunday, March 12 when the program will feature Old Hickory Council and Piedmont District leader, Mrs. Jane Shouse.
