Troop 919 Notes 5-2-2011

Bike Trip – Many thanks to all of the leaders who made it possible for our Scouts to enjoy their 50 mile ride on the New River Bike trail over the weekend. This is the most logistically challenging trip of the year, so a round of applause to all who helped out!

If you didn’t pay your share of the food cost over the weekend, remember to pay your patrol for your portion of the food cost on Tuesday.

Also, if you committed to go on the trip and at the last minute didn’t go, remember, your patrol still purchased food for you and you are still obligated to pay your portion of the food costs.

Please be sure to take care of all food reimbursement at Tuesday’s meeting.

Whitewater Canoe Trip – Our whitewater canoe trip is the weekend of May 13-15. This trip was originally scheduled for later in May and was moved to avoid conflict with the Memorial Day weekend holiday.

Signups for this trip will be at Tuesday’s Troop meeting and menu planning is next. We will also need to plan a “one the water” practice prior to the trip. We will schedule the practice trip on Tuesday as well. Scouts must be " BSA swimmer" certified to go on this trip.

Troop Merit Badge College - Our Troop's Merit Badge College is Saturday, May 7 at the Scout Hut. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. Please plan to arrive by 8:45 AM

The following sessions will be offered. Sign ups will be at Tuesday's Troop meeting.

Medical Forms - It's also past time to submit your annual health and medical record. Only a couple Scouts have submitted this important item. Please help YOUR TROOP by submitting this in a timely fashion.

If you are in a situation where you must wait to meet your insurance company's requirement before completing your visit to the doctor, please let us know when we can expect to have your updated health and medical record.

All Scouts and leaders must also submit a copy of their insurance card with their health and safety record.

Cub Scout Day Camp – Looking for something to fill those lazy days of summer?

The Piedmont District is offering two Cub Scout Day this year and is in need of Scouts (age 14 or older) to volunteer to help staff the camp. this is a great opportunity for Scouts to earn service hours, show their leadership skill and teach younger Scouts some Scouting skills.
